Ancient Martial Arts System
As one of the oldest martial arts schools in Japan, Katori Shinto Ryu encompasses a complete system of classical martial arts. Beyond core swordsmanship, it includes Sojutsu (spear techniques), Naginatajutsu (glaive techniques), Bojutsu (staff techniques), and Iaijutsu (quick-draw sword techniques), as well as Jojutsu (short staff techniques) designed by Master Sugawara. The training process emphasizes the precise transmission of "Kata" (forms) and the philosophy of military strategy, allowing practitioners to realize traditional mysteries through the refinement of ancient methods.
Dojo Locations
Shuijingan is dedicated to promoting orthodox martial arts, and our path of practice transcends geography. We currently have dojos in both Hong Kong and Sukoharjo, Central Java, Indonesia, providing students with a pure martial arts atmosphere where they can experience a classical heritage spanning hundreds of years, regardless of which city they are in. Our approved disciples regularly participate in training at the Tokyo headquarters dojo in Japan and attend seminars led by Shihan Sugawara.
